Regarding the teams : After TI8/TI9 LGD, majority of Chinese fans are split into 3 factions: Ame/LGD fans, Somnus/RNG fans, and Aster/Burning fans. There are probably lots of other Chinese fans in reddit who can continue to chime in. Since TI11 is right around the corner, I want to share some of the human side of Chinese teams and players to at least break some of the invisible barriers, as well as some insights on why some of the players were flamed by the very polarized, sometimes toxic, Chinese community. While dota fans can get to know their favorite pro players or teams through twitter, instagram, facebook page, they probably only know very little about Chinese players, for example Ame, other than how he prophesied about EG's roster change Yun talked to many talents and pros during the two recent events and the concensus is (unsurprisingly) because that language barrier makes Chinese pros seem very distant while the rest of the dota community more or less all speak English. For example, there weren't many Russians or Ukrainians at Arlington but almost every non-Chinese fan rooted for TS during the GF. Bian would banter with C Smile by saying Zamale every time they meet and C Smile always laughed about itīut the main thing they talked about, which is what fans like me who lurk in reddit would resonate, is how few non-Chinese dota fans would root for Chinese teams. While this is not proper Chinese, it basically means 'what happened' which shows CSmile trying to talk in Chinese. As he headed back, Fly, being the cool dude he is, tapped Bian's shoulder and gave him burger despite them barely knowing each otherĬ Smile (Chris Luck) asked 'Zamale' during a match a while ago. OG's entire team also being very friendly towards LGD when players met during breakfastĪna's not a chef (running meme within the Chinese community saying that Ana God retired after 2nd TI win and dived into his true hobby as professional chef) and that he doesn't speak Chinese at all (as an RNG fan this might partly explain their lackluster result COPIUM)īumping into Fly and his gf, mentioning about how they are very self-disciplined, waking up extremely early and working out often, Bian hailed Fly as the most fit dota playerīian's anecdote about playing at the The Summit 5: While playing at the summit house, Bian finished his pub game one day and went down for food but burgers were all out. Team spirit are extremely polite and friendly (Yatoro saying see you tomorrow to Bian after losing Winners Final showing their determination to be in the Grand Final, Mira bowing and saluting at Yun and also saying see you tomorrow, etc.) Both Yun and Ceb graduated from top MBA programs in France, Ceb and Yun chatted a few times in French at both Riyadh and Arlington and she was impressed that Ceb got his MBA degree while getting the aegis twice The video mentioned a few things such as:Ĭeb being the very charismatic and feels like the pillar or face of the dota community. Couple hours ago, Faith Bian and his gf Yun shared a video about their experiences at Arlington both as player and audience.
